3D/ 4D scan!!

Today James and I took a trip to Blackrock to get a 3D/ 4D scan. It was AMAZING. It was amazing seeing the baby so real!! We saw the baby hiccup, yawn and smile and also rub his eyes. He is so handsome and I can see some of James in him already. It was such an experience and well worth the money. We were given a cd with all 23 pics she took and a dvd of 16 minutes of scan footage. Hope you all like the photos!

The above picture is of the baby with his feet crossed at the ankles :-)

Look at our beautiful, handsome baby sleeping :-)

After having doubts on the previous assessment of the baby's gender we asked the sonographer to confirm it and here it is in plain daylight. A little willy!!

Our baby pulling a cute "oooooh" face. You can see the umbilical cord in this photo over his shoulder and around his neck. Apparently this is normal though and it is not dangerous to be around his neck at this stage...
Our little one's tiny footprint :-)

I think the baby looks a lot like James in the above picture. So handsome!

The picture below is the baby's cute profile. His mouth is open because he had just yawned.

All our goodies!

James put up our cot the other night. It's huge and I wonder how I'll be able to find the baby in the night!! The baby will surely get lost!! I love it though. We bought some bedding also but we aren't setting it up just yet because there is still a number of months to go and it would get dusty.

This is our bath set. It's lovely. It might not be clear from the picture but it has little zoo animals on the side. We got the changing mat to match and we have bought lots of towels. Baby towels are adorable because they have a hood and then they are swaddled up with the remaining corners.

This is our car seat. We love it. It looks so comfy for the baby and it also has a sun blind/ hood that can pull out to help keep sun out of the baby's eyes.

Our feeding stuff...

I will be 23 weeks tomorrow and again time seems to be flying. Only 17 weeks now until our little one arrives... and at maximum if I were to go overdue, 18 and a half weeks! It's not very long at all!

At the minute the baby weighs just over a pound (aaaw!) and is about 11 or 12 inches long. The baby's hearing is developing well and his heart is fully established. The baby always responds when James talks to my bump which is lovely. They are going to be best buddies.

My bellybutton is now a proper outie and you can see it if I wear a fitted top. I hope someday it will pop back in!! Other changes I notice in myself are my clumsiness. I don't feel as steady on my feet as before and I've broken a glass and a plate in the last 4 days! My gums also bleed a lot when I brush my teeth and I am having trouble falling asleep at night time but hopefully this will settle soon.

It's all worth it though when I get my little kicks and when I think about seeing my little guy in just over 4 months.

Last night James was able to hear the baby's heartbeat when he pressed his ear on my tummy and listened carefully. The baby's heartbeat is a little bit faster than mine. The baby also kicked James head last night when he was first trying to listen. We have a little rascal in there!

Were having a...

BOY!

The scan went really well. Unlike the previous times we went to the hospital we did not have to wait very long. It was great to see our little one again. James had not seen it since our 12 week scan which seems so long ago now. He really noticed a change. The baby is perfectly formed with the cutest little profile ever and we found out that it is a little boy. He is the exact perfect size for his age and everything is healthy

The scan pictures we got to take home were not very good because the sonographer was a student and kept missing the best oppurtunities to get a picture. The one above is the clearest we have though. If you can't make it out, the head is at the top, body at the bottom, spine to the left and on the right side of the head you can see a little mouth, nose and eye. It is the cutest baby I have ever seen. It was also lovely feeling the kicks this time but also being able to see what the baby was doing when it kicked and the movement it made.

I don't think I get another scan now. I think that is the last time I will see bubs until I see the real thing!! Not long to go now but I know having seen it so many times, not seeing it for the next 19 weeks is really going to make me miss it.

We are both really chuffed that we are having a little boy. It's lovely knowing before the baby comes which route our life is gonna take (pink and pretty things or mud and mischief!! haha). I did have a feeling it would be a boy but James thought it would be a girl. James is excited to take bubs out for his first pint (not for a LOT of years yet!).

Big scan tomorrow!

Bump seems to be growing more rapidly day by day. The baby is now fully formed with everything in the right place and in proportion, it just needs to get bigger. It now measures about 10 inches from head to bum.

Kicks are getting more frequent. I'm feeling them everyday now, usually in the morning or late evening. There is not so much movement during the day because apparently your movements during the day rock the baby to sleep. James is feeling at least one or two everyday now which is lovely. I have known my baby and been feeling it move subtly for so long that it's nice he can finally feel it too

I am off work on Thursday and the cot and car seat are being delivered. There is very little still to buy and the things left to buy are all very small.

Our big scan is tomorrow and I'm feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. Apparently they do a close up of the heart and we will be able to see all the valves and chambers, a closeup of the face and all the limbs and then they count the pieces in the spine (I'm not sure what these are called) to make sure everything is in order and developing properly. I can't wait to see how much the baby has grown since the last time we saw it. I'll put the pictures up on here tomorrow as soon as I get home!
